The great escape 04 - 27 - 09

As most of you know I have had the sweetest little pet hamster for the past 2 and half years.
When I would come into our study I would make squeaky noises and she would come up to the closest corner of the cage and do it right back. We'd take her out and let her crawl all over us, and chill in our pockets. I think her favorite was sitting with Jake. As you can see for a hamster she was very photogenic, and loved being everywhere that we were.
Well, these last 3 days she was really sick, no eating, drinking or even moving. We thought she'd be gone within the first day, but my little fighter fought to stay.. I could not let her go, I held her for the better part of last night. At about 4:30 in the morning Jake told me I needed to go to bed, and to just lay her comfortably in her little cage. I did not want to let her go, and was not ready, but finally I felt she would be better laying in her little blankets, so I did. She was pretty much gone at this point. When I woke at 9:00 this morning she was in a better place.. I like to believe she fought until I was ready to let her go. I want to remember her as my unique little friend.
Her great escape..

A little over a month ago, I had her in her ball rolling around the office. I had stepped out for a moment and when I came back in, the ball was popped open. I was so worried, I could not find her for a few minutes, then I looked over by my photo box to see her chewing on the corner. She just stood up on her back legs and looked at me all sweet like I'm not doing anything wrong.

I would have to say the strangest thing I'd ever seen was when she played dead.
The first time she ever did this was at my apartment.
We had just came back and went to check up on her in the guest room. (yes she had her own room pretty much) She was halfway hanging half out of the tube, and was not breathing. I freaked out and got Jake of course, so to get to this tube you have to take apart almost her whole cage. Jake had about most the cage taken apart to try to get her lil body out of there. When he had the bars off she just backed out and started playing around as if nothing. We got use to this after a few times, but still was a little strange.

I'm glad she is in a better place, and lived a long full life, but she'll be missed..

My little guys

Monday morning before I left back to Vegas, I had to stop by and see my little guys.
I just love these two boys.
The little shirt Nick has on, I painted it and one for Zack but he liked his truck shirt better.
I brought one for them to put their hands on for me, Nick did, but little Zacky wasn't in the mood. So maybe they'll send it down to me :)

Utah Visit ( the indestructible becomes destructible)

Last weekend, I went up to visit my family.
When I got there late Friday night, me and my little sister
were catching up and laughing.
Our Mom came out and talked with us for a while, She looked fine
and was only really thirsty.
None of us though anything of it and continued on with our night.
The next morning was busy, moms blood sugar was in the 400, she gave herself a shot
which all the times before brings it down for her.
Me and Danielle were trying to work something out to find a prom dress, but I had
my nieces birthday party, so I told her we would go tomorrow.
I left for the party within that first hour I was there, I got one of
the worst texts someone could ever get.
Dads Cell We've taken your Mom to the hospital
Her blood sugar never went down but climbed higher into the 600.
(normal is 90 - 125)
She should not have even been able to function at that. Should have been dead,
or in a diabetic coma, the doctor said.
Now when you here these words about your own mother, who was just laughing with you
a few hours ago, it makes you think.
My Mother even when she was sick she would take care of us.
She was my indestructible, who was now destructible.
I had never known her to be in the hospital but for when she had us kids.
She stayed in ICU until late Sunday night when an elderly person needed, the care more
than my Mom. ( because they didn't have enough people to take care of her, in ICU)
As you can see I wasn't very fond of that idea, that they would move someone, because they didn't have enough people for that many patients.
Her blood sugar keep going up and down the while time she was there.
My Mother being her, wanted nothing more than to be left alone and to go home.
So finally on Monday morning, after her telling them to let her go, and them being short handed
they let her come home.
The doctors all said it was a close call.
Life is so fragile, we all hang by a tread never knowing how thin we make it.
You never wake up thinking, today feels like a good day to check into the hospital,
or I may get in a crash and die today, so love you guys.

No none of this ever crosses our minds, as we zip by each day.
My Mom gets a second chance, as does all of us.
I hope I can be a better person, and slow down a little to enjoy things and time
with my husband and family.

All you need is love

:) So for our one year anniversary, Jake got us tickets to see The Beatles Love :)
It was so amazing, I'm not a big fan of the Beatles but the show was done so
well, that I think anyone would enjoy it..
It's definitely worth the price .
We didn't get any pictures after the show because I thought there
were to many people and it was already pretty late.
( I guess we'll just have to go again )
After that we were going to stay in Primm but long story short.
After waiting 5 hours in a non moving line to check in,
we found out that they over booked, and we would have to wait until
people checked out before we could check in.. (This was at 5:30am)
So we left and went and stayed in Jean, which was nice :)
I can't believe it's already been a year !

One Year

Wow, already one year ! ! !
I can't believe it will be a year on the 21st, that I said " I do" to my best friend.
I don't know where the time has gone, it feels just like yesterday,
that I was counting down the days until I got to be Mrs. Millett :)
I still have the same butterflies every time that he kisses me
as I did before and through all the years that we dated.
I hope I have made it a good year for him, he has made it a wonderful year for me.
I am very blessed that we are still much in love, and that I have an amazing husband.
All I ask is to share many more years with him, and to always have him by side.

Cookies, cookies and more cookies ! !

See, I told you, cookies, cookies and more cookies...
What is up with all the cookies?
Well, it was a fund raiser for the girls, to go to girls camp.
Carrie is over girls camp, and well, she needed to bake over 200
of these cookies, so I helped.
After they were all baked, the young women came over to decorate
and these are just some of the cookies.
They ended up raising more than enough money to go to camp :)
So all the hard work of last week paid off :)
But really, I dont think I will eat a sugar cookie in long time..

So that was my week :)
Of course with all the baking for other people,
I had to make a dozen or two to take to Jake at work

They sold cookies and these cute rose candies :)

More fun

Not sure what he was doing but its a great pic :) I wanted to share it...
]
Okay so I know he looks scared, but he was laughing in this pic, he liked the frogger so much he cried when he had to get off the ride.

I just love Nicks face in this :) He loved this ride as much as Zack.

I think this was Zacks all time favorite ride, he rode it twice in a row cause he didn't want to get off, and then one more time before we left for the night.
We tried to put him on without Nick though and he didn't like that, so Nick rode the train with Zack. (what a good big brother)

Weekend of fun

So this past weekend I was able to spend time with my older sister and her little boys.
We took them to the adventure dome, it was so much fun seeing the little guys enjoy the rides,
we even got on a few of the rides :)
It was nice to see my family, and be around my nephews, Nick was attached to my hip
for the better part of the day, which I loved.
Little Zack has grown up so fast and was just a doll, I hope they come back soon :)

Not a big fan

Okay, okay, I dont know why but I am just not that big of a fan of Valentine background right now.. Maybe it's cause it's a month away, maybe I just dont like the Valentine things, not sure.. I tried giving it shot but nooo, noo, I just, uh how do I put it.. Not for me right now.. Maybe I am ready for spring that might be it :) So I am strange I know I know :) So if there is a cute one later, I may put it, or I may not I guess I need to be in the mood. Right now though I just want spring, spring flowers, spring weather, spring birds, you know the whole 9 yards :)

:) Got to love my husband :)

Okay, so with all the new decorating, and adding color
to the bathroom, Jake has been really sweet about it all..
He even bought me the red towels and red rugs.
I wasn't sure how he would feel about me picking the bathroom colors
or spending the money on silly flowers, and frames, and the
little things to go into the frames and all that fun stuff.
To my lovely surprise he has been helping, and even going
out of his way after work to buy me the things,
so that I can decorate the next morning while he is at work..
He has always been a real trooper to all my crazy
ideas, and has always gone the extra mile to make
me feel good about living in Vegas. Which I love Vegas, and
I love being with Jake and his family, it is adjusting,
and well, a matter of getting my own creativeness
out there and into the house.. :)

MY PROJECT house to a home

Okay, So we have been living here for uh 8 months and this house still
does not feel like home. I feel like I am visiting, maybe even visiting some old ladies house.
( maybe cause we share, maybe it's the fact this house is like 60's style too)
I really have not felt like this house had any spot for me.
You know when you walk in your room, or your house, it just says
welcome home, this is where you belong.....
Well, I have not had that feeling so I decided to decorate and try to make
this feel more like where I fit in and belong.
Make a project I guess you can say :)
I am not done yet, but I just buy a little here a little there and add..

So I am doing RED, BLACK & GOLD
I am not a big fan of gold, but the lighting in the bathroom is gold
and because we are renting I am not going
to spend the money to change that..
Above the towels under the little black frame I am
going to be putting a shelf with some zen stuff, a zen garden
a little bamboo tree, and the in sent thing will be moved over to there.
and over the shower curtain I am putting a red window scarf,
with black little hooks to hold it to the sides.
the wood towel racks will be changed to the black metal.
Like everything though it takes money so, pay check, to pay check
I buy new stuff :)
So this is what I have been up to, and why I have not been blogging
cause I have been shopping and decorating :)
OH YES, Yes that is a real fish bowl I have hanging on my wall :)
It is the neatest thing I've eve seen. Petco :) Love it.

Christmas :)

Well me and Jake spent Christmas at home just the two of us.
It was a little different but it was wonderful, to have time with just him.
Jake ended up waking up at 1:30 am (Christmas morning) and
he couldn't go back to sleep, so he woke m up at 2am to open gifts. :)
I have to laugh a little inside and think he is crazy, but that is why I love him so much
So we opened our gifts and Jake ended up playing with his guitar hero until about 6am
I didn't get any pictures cause as you can imagine I was soo tired.
Jake spoiled me rotten though, and I think I did pretty good for his gifts,
even though he already beat his game lol :)

Holiday Pictures

Our Holiday pictures
These were from yesterday :)
( I am glad the snow waited )

I just love these pics, Jake is such
a good sport. I always want to do pictures
so every chance I get I have to get a few.
( think it is cause I just find Jake so good looking )
I hope to have the Holiday cards done today,
and send out tomorrow :)

Dreams come true :)

No, it's not dust on my lens, IT'S SNOW ! !
Yes it is snow, here in Vegas Crazy :)
Jake came home on a short break and told
me to look out the window this afternoon
and this was my surprise..
Snow, snow, snow I love it :)
Okay so it's that slushy wet snow that is just
cold and wet, but it is snow !

I only wish it could stick around for a few days :)
Oh well, at least it snowed and I am happy now :)

The Christmas lights at opportunity village

This is my first year here for Christmas
and my first time going to opportunity village
I love Christmas lights, and this was wonderful
to get me into the Christmas spirit. :)
It was so much fun being with Jake, and his family :)

growing up I would watch peanuts (Charlie brown)
Every year the Christmas one would come on and I never missed it,
So I just had to get a picture of snoopy :)

awe how cute, I am glad to know that we
dont need a mistletoe for Jake to give me a kiss :)

Now I just thought this was beautiful, to bad they don't do rides in it

Matti with her uncle Jake :)
She loves her uncle, and well was fascinated with the lights

MERRY CHRISTMAS ! !

our christmas trees

Chi
My little helper :)

Our large tree

Small tree

Last year I thought I would leave the lights on to make things
easier, you know pretend to have one of those really nice trees,
where the lights are on, and they are straight and all..
HAHA Half my lights on the large tree were out, in the middle
of the tree. not the bottom or top where it would be easy to fix..
but no the middle haha.
Well all got done with help of Jake making the tree stand
straight, after I somehow made it lean twice :(
and to Carries help for putting on the decorations
after my arms gave up from putting lights on..

Look at these faces

PRICELESS

I LOVE IT :)

These are the cutest kids ever :)

Natnat & Marty
My little niece and nephew
:) Not to sure about having his picture :)

Zack & Nick

Me & Nick

This was thanksgiving day at Moms
I just love my nephews and niece
They pull some of the cutest faces ever...

I'm dreaming of a white christmas (keep dreaming right)

Well we are December now, and well yesterday was 70
and the rest of this week will be in the low to mid 60's : ?
Talk about trying to make it feel like the holidays.
I forgot how beautiful the snow is.
(that is a picture of the canyon road in Payson Utah)
I really dont miss the cold to much, just the beautiful snow
and that cold mountain smell.
I can't really explain the smell, but yes there is one.
Last week when I was up in Utah, I got in at 7 am
The first scent I smelt when I stepped out of the car was
that cold mountain smell, that told me the holidays are here..
Yes I may wish for snow but I know it wont happen here,
so I guess I will have to make do with the fluffy fake stuff
and the window paint haha ( oh sad)
But like I have said, doesnt matter what you get, or where you are
it is who you're with and what you do with that time together. :)
So I will be dreaming of a white Christmas, while I go outside in
a shirt and flipflops :)

Just a thought about Jake

Just a note of how much I appreciate my husband
Jake is always helping out, whenever anyone askes
him to do something, fix something, or just listen
he is always there.
More so for me than anyone though
Thanks for all the times he has had to wait,
to all the hockey games I made him late.
For fixing everything that I tend to break
from my computer, the toilet, our DVD player
to even my own ankle :(
For also fixing Me, when I'm upset,
tired, grumpy, sore, sad, and all
the rest of the ten thousand moods we women
go through in a day.
Allowing me an extra 15 mins on those days
when I try on just 5 more outfits, cause nothing
is looking right or fit right, and on those days
for reminding me that I am beautiful to him :)
Being my shoulder to lean on (really lean on :) ) cry on,
hold on to when I get scared.
Most of all I am thankful for him being my best friend
through the very thick and thin.
It is hard to remember to say thank you sometimes
but there's no reasonable excuse for not saying thank you enough..
THANK YOU :)
